About Buckenmeyer Pictures
Buckenmeyer Pictures represents my work as an independent filmmaker. My name is Javier Buckenmeyer, and I didn't make my first short film until I was 42, when I finally sat down and wrote my first story.
Since then, I've made around a dozen short films, most of them with little more than a handful of actors and one or two assistants. I've handled much of the filming myself, along with all the editing. These have been zero-budget productions, made with whatever resources and people were available.

After writing my first couple of stories, I was surprised to realize they were both thrillers. It wasn't a genre I had been particularly drawn to as a moviegoer, so I hadn't expected that to be where my writing would take me.
Since then, I've also made dramas and a couple of science fiction stories, and I don't particularly want to limit myself to one genre. I do enjoy creating suspenseful moments and occasionally scaring the audience, but I'm also drawn to uplifting stories, the kind of films that leave you feeling good when they end.
I'm still relatively early in my journey as a writer, and in many ways I'm still discovering what kinds of stories come out of my head. I'm happy to see where that takes me.
Arranz Films
Arranz Films is a family filmmaking collaboration between four cousins:
- Javier Buckenmeyer Arranz — Writer, Director and Editor
- Lourdes Montes Arranz — Producer
- Caridad Arranz García — Art Director and Actress
- Gloria Bueno Arranz — Lead Actress

Our first project together was Scary Wally, made for a 48-hour filmmaking competition. This time, the story was written by the girls rather than me, making it a different kind of collaboration from my previous films.
We're now working together on Flor de Loto, a psychological thriller, and plan to continue collaborating on future projects. Not everyone necessarily participates in every production, and our roles can change depending on the project.
For now, filmmaking is something we do in our spare time, alongside our other work and responsibilities. We hope to eventually have more time and resources to dedicate to our films.
We appreciate everyone who takes the time to watch our work, share it or support us in any way.
